Día 7 / Day 7

Phuket, 15 de Septiembre de 2011, Muay Thai.

Muy temprano nos fuimos a visitar algunas islas, entre ellas Phi Phi, Maya y Khai, particularmente en Maya bay es donde se filmaron algunas escenas de la película “La Playa” con Leonardo Di Caprio. Los paisajes realmente son de otro planeta y posiblemente ese sea el motivo por el cual muchas películas muestran lugares de acá, incluso me parece que algo de Jurassic Park también se filmo por acá, tengo la sensación. Esta recorrida nos tomo todo el día pero al regresar nos ofrecieron ir a ver una pelea de Muay Thai o Boxeo Tailandés. Vimos 9 peleas, desde los más pequeños hasta los adultos e incluso mujeres, todos se matan pero quienes más pegan son las mujeres, realmente interesante. Lo más divertido fueron los relatos en Tailandés y el ritual antes de empezar la pelea.

We left the hotel early in the morning to visit some islands, Phi Phi, Maya and Khai among others, particularly some scenes of “The Beach” with Leonardo Di Caprio have been filmed on Maya bay. The landscapes are from the other planet, and probably that’s why several movies showed places from here, even Jurassic Park could have place in here, I think. We spent the whole day visiting these places and they offer us to see Muay Thai or Thai Boxing at the return to the hotel. We saw 9 fights, the younger ones to the adults and the ladies, these last ones were the most violent, it was really interesting. The funniest thing was to hear the comments in Thai language and the rituals before the match.
